The Chemical Form of the Vitamin C
L-Ascorbic Acid is the only form of Vitamin C that can be used in the body. Other forms of topical Vitamin C must be converted to L-Ascorbic Acid in the skin – an inefficient process with questionable results. Studies to date show that Vitamin C derivatives commonly found in many skincare products are either not absorbed or not converted to L-Ascorbic Acid in high enough concentrations to be effective.

The Stability of the Vitamin C
L-Ascorbic Acid is an inherently unstable molecule and its stability is greatly shortened if the pH of the skincare product is at neutral or alkaline, as in most cosmetic formulations. Thus for Vitamin C to be stable, the pH level should be less than 3.5.
With pH level of 2.4 to 3.2, Vivier serums are the most stable Vitamin C serums in the world and they maintain their full potency until expiry.
